Zahra Handworks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that facilitates educational and enrichment opportunities focused on the value and importance of creating with one's own hands—especially when made from re-purposed and reclaimed materials—and the positive ecological effects this can have on the environment, culture, and family.
Since 2013, Zahra Handworks has given away hundreds of crochet hooks and scissors and provided instruction how to cut a reclaimed plastic bag into a single strip of plarn (plastic yarn) that can be crocheted or woven into new items. Additionally, four looms have been gifted to three traditional Egyptian women in Bahariya, Aswan, and Abydos. They also received the training needed to be able to use their new tool.
We welcome your tax deductible donations to help us supply the next loom and training to use it! Contact Zahra Indigo if you want to help!
In 2015, Zahra Indigo taught with Hadia how to cut a plastic bag into a single continuous strip to become plarn to be used for crochet and weaving, thus turning what was waste into a free and abundant raw material for the creation of new items.
Hadia received the gift of a new loom in February 2021.
The Clear Bead in the Center changes everything.
There are no edges in my loving now.
They say there is a window between one soul and another.
But if there are no walls, there is no need for a window or a latch.
